Sir Philip Pullman (celebrated author, Exeter Alumnus [1965, English] & Exeter Honorary Fellow)

‘Read like a butterfly, write like a bee’, Fitzhugh Auditorium, Cohen Quad, Walton Street, 5.30 pm

The title of this talk is described by Sir Philip as "not only a tribute to the great American poet Muhammad Ali but a fairly accurate summary of what I’ve been up to since graduating in 1968. I’ll be looking at the way I work and trying to discover how much, and in what way, I was influenced by an Oxford education."

Philip Pullman is the author of many books and essays, including his trilogies His Dark Materials (including Northern Lights [1995]) and The Book of Dust (ongoing, including the very recently published The Secret Commonwealth [2019]. He was knighted this year for services to literature.
